Here are some of the activities we have been trying since our last blog post...
First we read about Sid, the dinosaur who lost his roar.
You can listen to the story by clicking this link :
Then we had a go at writing a speech bubble for Sid. We decided what we wanted to write and stretched the words slowly so we could hear which sounds we needed to write. Then we used an alphabet mat to help us record the sounds. Amelia tried really hard with sounding out the words and recording them neatly. This is her beautiful writing...
We've also been reading information books about dinosaurs and talking about which dinosaur we like the best. Albie decided that he liked the Brachiosaurus the best.
Which dinosaur would you choose?
In our Maths sessions we have been looking at 2D (flat) shapes. We decided to make some shape dinosaurs. Maybe you could go on a shape hunt around your house or local area to see what shapes you can find: circles, squares, rectangles,

Levi made a fat one with a long neck!
We've also been reading a story called Dinosaurs Love Underpants. This story is really funny and during our Art sessions the children have enjoyed printing patterns on some funky underpants for our classroom's dinosaurs.

And finally... as part of our Understanding the World we have been discovering dinosaur fossils and ice-age eggs. This has prompted some fabulous language about melting and freezing and how fossils come to exist. We also discovered that some children have great stickability and would chip away at the fossil for a long, long time.
What an exciting fortnight. We can't wait for our next activities....
